Autumn seemed to arrive very suddenly after the hot Summer didn't it?... and Autumn is the perfect weather for mushy peas! What better way to tempt you by kicking off September with a video of our visit to Lucy's Mushy Pea Stall in Norwich Market?
Whilst in Norwich, one of us visited The Fish Bar on St Leonard's Road. We had last been here when it was called Massingham's. Happily customers of the chip shop can still take their takeaways over to The Jubilee pub nearby where plates and cutlery are provided.
Chesterfield Big Fish. This was our first meal from this chippy, although we had previously reviewed it when the shop was called The Crooked Fryer.
Draycott Fish Bar is a great fish and chip shop. The lunchtime special was GVFM and the chips were spot on!
Horsley Woodhouse might not be on your radar but it has a great fish and chip shop as previously reviewed by us in 2022. Locals pronounce 'Woodhouse' as 'Wudus' hence the unusual name of the shop. The owner is friendly and chatty and the haddock and chips were heavenly on this visit. Soft new potato chips and succulent fish with highly peaked, crispy batter!
Also in Derbyshire, we visited Best of British Fish and Chips in Long Eaton. On this occasion we saved room for a dessert of a battered Mars Bar. Could this chippy be the East Midland's best kept secret?...
Ledbury is certainly one of the prettiest places we have enjoyed fish and chips. Y Pass is worth checking out if you are in the town.
An Autumn visit to Birmingham included a trip to the Ozzy Osbourne exhibition and lunch in the restaurant at Dad's Lane. We last ate here in 2014.
Mother Hubbard's is a dependable chain of chip shops. We have always enjoyed their food which is freshly prepared while customers wait. The Coventry branch was impressive.
