March - April 2025 Round-Up

The second of our round-ups of 2025 is here!

The following list includes some chippies we reviewed on the blog last year and have since recently uploaded YouTube videos of. So you can read the Chip Diaries reviews but also sit at the tables with us on video! Follow us on youtube.com/@fishandchipdiaries

Other Chip Shops mentioned below were new visits for us and often include some local landmarks or pub visits too. We have also videoed fish and chips meals whilst having a drink at The Great Western, Wolverhampton, and Everard's Beer Hall.

The Great Western

One of the Chip Fiends visited The Fish Shack, Wigston, Leicester for a sunny park picnic followed by some drinks at the Tap and Barrel micropub before it closed for good.

The Friary, Stockport made for a great place to have lunch from the ‘match day’ menu. The haddock, chips and curry sauce were delicious.

We had visited Tommy’s in Burton on Trent a few years ago. On a more recent visit we once again had fish, chips and curry sauce, followed with a beer at Burton Bridge.

Hendo’s in Bury St Edmunds was excellent. Our visit had to include this top quality shop/restaurant which opened after our last visit to this lovely town in 2019.

Readers of our blog will know we have made several visits to Buckinghamshire in recent years. There are videos of a whopping fish one of us ate in Berkhamsted, and a disappointing meal in Bletchley, most of which ended in the bin!

We were sad to read about the demise of another fish and chip shop. Parrotts in Peterborough closed in February. You can see a video of our final visit last September, below.

Another bike ride for chips was featured in our video of Kingfisher Fish Bar in Hinckley. There should be more of these in the summer. We previously reviewed this chippy in 2021.
