Olde English Chippy, Kimberley, Notts

I’ve blogged from this chippy before in 2018. Back then it was either referred to as 'No.1 Fish and Chips' or 'James Street Old English Chippy'. This time there was no confusion about the name and there was a new sign on the front which read 'Olde English Chippy'. On my previous visit I had a large cod and chips with mushy peas and rated it all 5/5.

It was a dark evening on this second trip out to Kimberley and I needed to eat so popped into the Olde English again. This time I had mini fish and chips with curry sauce.

All fish is fried to order, which is great. Mine was soon ready and I was sitting on the bench outside the shop tucking into my hot meal.

The chips were excellent. Chunky hot hunks of fluffy fresh potato. They were divine wrapped in their thick blanket of spicy and slightly sweet curry sauce.

The mini fish was excellent too. Lovely white flakes of perfectly cooked cod. If I’d had room I would’ve eaten another portion!

It’s always good when you return to a chip shop you’ve liked before and the standards are still high.
