We came here many years ago when the shop was called the The Spires Supper Bar.
The outside of the shop listed their meal deals. I walked in and ordered the usual mini fish special and waited whilst it was cooked to order.
The person serving was new and had to ask the boss the price. They looked surprised it seemed cheap. Probably because the fish looked quite sizeable for a mini. They helpfully ladled the peas in one corner of the tray as requested.
I wandered to the park where we sat and ate in 2015. The weather was very different on this picnic, it was a race against time as the heavens were about to open.
The batter wasn’t great. It was a bit thick and slightly spongy. The fish itself looked like an elephant had sat on it. The peas were very nice but were more like pea soup. The chips were decent but I wasn’t sorry to chuck some away when I became too full to finish everything.
