Chip Shops and Cats on National Fish and Chip Day 2020

Have you ever been to a chip shop and found the local moggie lingering outside? We have noticed this phenomenon on several occasions. Does mouser now have a penchant for fried fish? Have the neighbours been passing their tidbits to tabby?

On National Fish and Chip Day 2020 we fondly recall some of the occasions we have been approached by a cat when enjoying our fish and chips...

Markfield Fish Bar, Leicestershire:

Mackays at Syston, Leicestershire (now a branch of Frydales):

Cecil Street Fish Bar, Grantham, Lincolnshire:

The cat we named Cedric, whom we met outside Whitwick Fryer, Leicestershire:

On a return visit to Whitwick we saw this black cat jump over the chippy wall after sniffing some discarded chip wrappings:

This chap we met near Robinson's at Cromford, Derbyshire must have been attracted by the delicious smell of our fish and crinkle cut chips:

And last but not least, let's not forget the persistent pussy we met at Queen's Fish Bar in Winshill near Burton upon Trent, Staffordshire:

Meow!

If you see a cat near your local chippy today, why not give them a treat and help them celebrate our favourite day of the year!!
