Fry Days is a typical fish and chip shop in Grimsby where you can get relatively low priced food. We tried the mini fish special here at £5.50 which came in a decent sized portion.
After ordering we waited a few minutes for the food to be fried only to be served a fish from the hot box. That must be the first time in our experience we’ve waited for a hot box fish to be replaced.
We shared the meal while sitting on a bench further down the road. Pleasant enough but lacking pizzazz. The curry sauce tasted good but was a little runny. The dark coloured chips were soft and had a nice sweet flavour of potato.
The cod had good, white flakes. The batter had gone soft as you would expect but the fish wasn’t hotbox chewy.
Should you want something sweeter this shop batters Mars Bars, Snickers and pineapple fritters.
