Sea Fish, Ripley, Derbyshire

Sea Fish is a very fine fish and chip restaurant and takeaway a short walk from the centre of Ripley.

We previously reviewed the amazing battered mince pies on sale at Christmas. On this occasion one of the Chip Fiends treated themselves to haddock, chips and peas. The service was as exemplary as the surroundings. I had a small pot of tea while I waited for my meal to be served.

The chips were chunky and hand cut. Fried just right to a light golden colour, they tasted great with lashings of salt and vinegar.

The mushy peas were served in a ramekin which kept them hot. They were proper homemade peas in a lovely moist sauce.

The haddock was superb. Fresh, pure white flakes which fell apart with ease - testament to the method in which it had been steamed inside its light, crisp batter. I didn’t waste a morsel!
