The Fish Bank, Sherburn-In-Elmet, Yorkshire

All aboard the
11:45 from York to Sherburn-In-Elmet, then shank’s pony to The Fish Bank to fill our bellies.

We didn’t have much trouble ordering here as it offered a limited menu when we visited. Not even a Yorkshire fishcake. The fish butty that is sometimes on the menu wasn’t listed today.

Fish (cod) and chips it was. One with curry and one with mushy peas. Cooked to order.

We sat outside and tucked in.
The batter on the fish was very light and crisp with some nice peaks and bubbles. The curry sauce was definitely the star of the show here; being a sweet and spicy Irish type. Absolutely delicious. The peas weren’t bad either.

The chips appeared to be those over fried ones that certain award winning chip shops like to boast about. I really don’t see the attraction myself. I want to taste potato, and you don’t get that with chips like this unfortunately.
