Leicester City Fish and Chips, Leicester

One of us came here in 2017 and was very impressed with the chips. On this return visit they decided to have a large haddock too.

This shop, you may remember, only opens when Leicester Tigers or Leicester City are playing at home.

I recalled the favourite choice of customers before was battered sausage and chips. Today it appeared to be curry sauce and chips. The portions were huge. It may have been because it was almost time for the game to start so they were using up their stock.

Service was swift despite a queue.

“You can feed the five f-ing thousand with this” said the man at the next picnic table outside.

The chips were slightly undercooked but were nice enough. The fish looked the business but upon stabbing open the batter it was turning soft. Prob too long in the hot box. It wasn’t the usual Leicester sponge batter but it wasn’t great for eating. Nice enough but perhaps I should have got there a bit earlier.
