Mr Chippy, York

The Chip Fiends found ourselves peckish one early evening in York and conveniently Mr Chippy was frying.




The shop was fairly busy but staff were working efficiently to fulfil the orders. The main stand-out of this chippy was how friendly the staff were, and how able to keep up with the customers in the thick of this tourist-centric part of the city.

We ordered fish, chips, and curry sauce to share. The proprietor gave us each a fork and we went upstairs to use the cafe facilities (at no extra charge).





The batter on the fish was crisp, knobbly, and delicious. The cod inside was tender and moist, but a little on the thin side.




The chips were crisp and tasty.

The curry sauce was good and spicy. Very nice indeed.




We followed the advice on the takeaway carton:

"York is a beautiful place so please help us to keep the city litter free by disposing of this box with consideration."
