Battered chips! You can’t whack it!

Three A’s fry battered chips after 5pm. It’s worth the wait till tea time, unless you want to try the chips without batter. The Chip Diaries had both.

The unbattered ones were nice enough. Cut chunky, their bite was light, fluffy and in no way stodgy. The chips were served in quite a big portion but we could still walk after eating them.

The rest of the fare was pretty average and had been standing in the hot box but we liked the unique special that combined mini cod and tinned roe. The gravy was mixed nice and thick.

The shop was stingy on the fork size, offering a prong more suitable for cocktail sized picked onions but luckily we came prepared with our own.

However, let us return to the star attraction. The battered chips were piping hot, bright orange in colour, very crispy/crunchy on the outside and perfectly fluffy on the inside. Delicious!
