Steve’s Fish Bar, Measham, Leicestershire

This place seemed to be the last shop left in a precinct of closed units.
The shop was quite basic looking but the good signs were there; a 5 rating on food hygiene and the fact they were cooking to order. It looked like the only things in the hot box were pies and something that looked like battered black pudding.

Five or so mins later I walked away with haddock, chips and mushy peas. Another plus was that everything was piping hot.

The haddock was spot on. A thin and crispy batter and some excellent flaking. The chips were a bit on the small and thin side for my liking. The mushy peas were just how I like them, with some pearls that had some bite suspended in the green slop. Delicious with some salt and vinegar added.
