Ivan’s, Cradley Heath, West Midlands

It’s been a few years since we last visited Cradley Heath. We knew we had to return to visit Ivan’s.

It’s a really old fashioned shop with a restaurant on one side. They pride themselves on serving fresh fish that is delivered three times a week. The business has been run by the same family since 1957.

The service was super friendly. I was informed they were just cooking some fresh battered chips. A couple of minutes later I was walking out with a bargain mini fish, chips and mushy peas.

Sadly, the mushy peas were those awful tinned ones so I managed to eat most of the meal that hadn’t been contaminated by them! The rest of the meal was super. Chips from new potatoes that were lightly battered were up there with some of the best I’ve ever had. The batter was light and the fish was delicious. Definitely a place to return for a bigger sized fish for sure.
