We spotted the red shop signage from a passing bus so decided to check this chippy out. We are glad we did.
One Saturday lunchtime we popped in for a mini fish special with peas for £4. The food was ready in a jiffy and we perched on a wall nearby to eat.
The chips were great. They had a homemade quality about them because they came in irregular lengths. Some were exceedingly long and took three bites to put away.
The fish was lovely. Firm, ice-white flakes of chunky cod in a crispy, knobbly batter.
The mushy peas were very nice too. They had a gentle, creamy taste that seemed at odds with their vivid green colour.
All the food was piping hot, and came in a generous portion which I didn’t quite manage to finish off.
Loftus accept card payments over £5. If you are having the mini meal you best add a drink to it if you haven’t got cash.
