King Street Fish Bar, Belper (Restaurant Meal)

Please note we visited the restaurant prior to lockdown and social distancing - nostalgia!!
King Street Fish Bar now do contactless deliveries plus 'click and collect'.

We have visited King Street chip shop before a couple of times for a takeaway meal. The shop is consistently good.

On this occasion we wanted to sit inside for a restaurant/cafe experience. It was a very busy Saturday lunchtime (and notably noisy) but luckily there was a table free.

The desired ‘set meals’ of cod or haddock with chips, side, drink, and bread were at the top of the menu. (For under £10). Very sensible. It was what we wanted. One Fiend had haddock, chips, curry sauce; the other had cod, chips and peas. We declined bread, and had tea to drink.

The food didn’t take long to arrive. It was delicious and very fresh. Both fish, chips and the batter were delicious. We ate every morsel.

The curry sauce could be improved. It was the standard type and quite runny. With the rest of the food being so good, it would be worth trying a different supplier. The mushy peas had a lovely creamy taste.

People started to queue for tables, so we left soon after clearing our plates and teacups.
