Riverside Fishbar Restaurant, Stamford

Back to where it all began. The first entry in our Chip Diary was about Riverside in Stamford. It’s been a while.

On this return we decided to go for a meal in the restaurant one Saturday afternoon.
The restaurant is bigger than we thought, with part of it down some steps. They could fit quite a few diners in here.

We kept our order simple; cod and chips and haddock, chips and mushy peas. There were some interesting items on the menu such as a pineapple fritter served with ice cream. That actually sounds quite delicious.

Dishes of tomato ketchup and tartare sauce were brought to the table.

The freshly cooked fish looked impressive in a golden crispy and light batter. The cod was chunky and delicious, although my preference on this visit was for the haddock. The chips were chunky and very good. The mushy peas weren’t so great, tasting not dissimilar to the tinned variety.

Riverside is still as good as it was on our first visit.
