Rugby Fish Bar, Rugby

It’s been a while since we went to Rugby. There are quite a few chippies here and I think we’ve been to most of them. We thought we’d give this one a go.

It’s a short stroll from the town centre. We arrived one cold, damp lunchtime not long after opening.

There were a few fish in the display ready prepared and lots of scallops. The scallops looked very tempting.

The gentleman serving here put the salt and vinegar on, thankfully he put enough on.

We both had mini fish and chips, one of us adding curry sauce.

As it was miserable weather we decided to sit at a small table for two.

The chips were magnificent, crisp outside and soft inside with a creamy flavour. No hint of grease either. The fish was cod and was cooked to perfection with pure white flakes. The curry sauce was standard, and quite sweet tasting. We prefer it if the sauce is poured over the chips but it was ladled over the fish. That aside, is was a very good meal.
