Cecil Street Fish Bar, Grantham

Another residential chippy at the end of a row of houses. How lucky to live here and have this on your doorstep.

It’s a trad looking shop with fish motifs on the friers. The menu had cod in three sizes, haddock in two sizes, plaice, roe and scampi.

There are a few seats lined along the wall so you can sit whilst your food is cooked to order. One of us had haddock and the other had cod. There was a big pile of scraps in the display so I asked for a sprinkling.

The batter was a bit on the crunchy side but was perfect for scraps.
The fish was portioned on the humongous side and was excellent.

The curry sauce was standard. It let the meal down, slightly.

The chips were cut very thick and were delicious. There was a lot of food so we closed the boxes for a while then continued our feast about ten minutes later. As we walked along the street a friendly cat spoke its approval.
