We’ve seen a few posters for these in chip shops since around October 2019 so one of us thought they’d give them a try. I’m very glad I did as it was delicious.
The pastry is very Pukka indeed; flaky and soft. Inside the pie is a cheddar sauce, which was full of flavour, with some chunks of potato, sliced leeks and some colour provided by the addition of spinach. I’d tried their potato, cheese and onion pie back in 2015. This was nice but I assume discontinued.
Good.
Pukka is generally disliked in the trade. Selling out to supermarkets for a discount price. We have stopped selling them for this reason in our shop.
