MD's Traditional Fish and Chips won the Northants' Telegraph Chip shop of the year 2014. The winner's certificate is proudly displayed on the wall beside the counter.
On a visit to Kettering the Chip Fiends had to visit and make a diary entry.
This Fiend ordered a haddock upon entering the shop. Cod is choice fish here, whereas haddock and plaice are fried to order. The cod and plaice both come in two sizes.
I found a spot to sit outside... on a wall in front of a rival chippy just a few yards down the road!
The chips were very tasty. Medium thickness and cut quite long. The fish had a delicious thin, crisp batter.
The texture of the haddock appeared a little over cooked however. It had gone a bit tough and stringy. The peas looked a pleasing colour but strangely lacked much flavour. All in all, not a bad meal but lacking a bit of punch.
