New Manor Fish Bar, Stapleford, Nottingham

The Chip Fiends visited the New Manor Fish Bar one soggy Saturday lunchtime. This smart chip shop is in a residential area away from the main drag of Stapleford shops and not far from another chip shop called Milly's that we visited previously.

One corner of the shop was boarded off for some refurbishment work (inside and out) but some hand written notices proclaimed 'Open as Normal'.

The good thing about this chippy is that they fry to order so you won't experience chewy, dry fish. Our small cod was succulent, and in a thin, crispy batter. Not at all stodgy.

The chips were dark and a bit hard. Perhaps they had been refried? They tasted ok, though. The mushy peas were soft, creamy and delicious. We were pleased that the peas were served in a pot rather than slopped all over the chips, and we were invited to perform our own splash and shake.

Our fish, chips and peas were priced at £4.95 - the lunchtime meal deal. There is a bench outside to sit and eat.
