Promenade Fish Bar, Matlock Bath

We intend to visit all the chip shops in Matlock. Today it was Promenade, a chippy I’d enjoyed a few years ago, so was looking forward to a return visit.

I ordered a very good value meal of fish, chips, mushy peas and a mug of tea for around a fiver.

I took a seat amongst the bikers that had come on their Sunday ride and had a peep at their tasty looking nosh. Mine soon arrived.

Everything was freshly cooked and smelt delicious.
The chips were very good indeed, just as I remember them from before. The fish was cooked in a light and crisp batter. The peas were good and the tea was piping hot.
One of the staff asked everyone in the cafe if they were enjoying their food. We all replied yes.

Afterwards I strolled along the road to a public house. A group of people of all ages were sheltering nearby the war memorial. Speaking with them I was informed they were “doing a Battle Raid” by special invitation and were going to catch a mythical creature on their phones.

  1. Went for a drive into Matlock Bath with my other half and felt a bit hungry. Saw Promenade Fish Bar and thought, why not?
Parked up outside and went to look at menu. Social distancing very apparent which was great.
Nice clear menu and we decided on Scampi and Chips for me and Steak &Kidney Pie, gravy and chips for GF.
Arrived promptly, sensible pricing (£10.80) with excellent service. The food was simply brilliant, so tasty and fresh.

I'd highly recommend this eatery and take away, stunning, great staff and owners. 100%
