We heard mixed reviews of this place but decided to give it a go.
The chippy is on the Chesterfield Road out of Sheffield city centre. There are a few other chip shops in Woodseats we also intend to visit.
The shop looks good; a traditional chippy.
We heard this shop cooked to order. Not so on this day. It was lunchtime around 12:30 and there was a small pile of ready cooked fish in the display. Not a good sign. We ordered the lunchtime “special” of mini fish, chips and mushy peas. Nice uniformed aprons and a robotic service with little eye contact.
The batter was smooth and did a fairly good job of disguising what was inside it. The food was quite stodgy and greasy and the peas were dyed an emerald green. Indigestion followed.

What a sad sight those are!
ReplyDeleteNot a good chippy. Woodseats Fisheries, a very short distance away on Chesterfield Road, are much, much better. A proper chippy - no kebabs or other nonsense. One of the best. And at the top of the hill, on Derbyshire Lane, is Derbyshire Lane Chippy, another well worth seeking out.
