No 1 Cromer Restaurant (Downstairs), Cromer

We've previously had takeaway fish and chips from No 1 Cromer and are yet to visit the restaurant Upstairs. On this visit we decided to eat in at the restaurant downstairs.

It was a very busy lunchtime but we were soon guided to one of the few empty tables and given a menu to peruse. We already knew what we wanted.

The order was taken and we gazed out of the window at the sea and Cromer pier.

The food arrived nicely presented.
One of us ordered haddock, chips and mushy peas. T'other ordered cod, chips and curry sauce.

Both the cod and haddock were super. Pure white flakes in a crisp light batter. The haddock eater commented on how moist and fresh it was.

The chips were crisp on on the outside and fluffy inside. They were cut medium size.

The curry sauce was a peppery style that was definitely more curry sauce than some chippy style. Delicious.
We chose our mushy peas minted so there was a generous splash of mint sauce on top.

We drank tap water with our meal but spotted a cask ale badged with the name No. 1 Amber, specially for the restaurant.

As we left there were more customers queuing for tables. A very popular chippy, and deservedly so.
