The Tunny Club, Scarborough

The Tunny Club is famous.
There are photos on the wall of movie stars that have eaten there in the past. John Wayne, Errol Flynn and David Niven to name a few.

We liked the seating booths and lobster basket lighting.

The food isn't served on plates, which there is a notice about on their website. It is a little disappointing when eating in a restaurant. It was served in card trays.
The (plastic) cutlery was on a table in the middle of the room and we had to help ourselves. Presumably it saves on washing up.

The chips were medium cut and quite soggy and greasy.
The cod and haddock was cooked in lovely light and crisp batter and both had that fresh seaside flavour.

The curry sauce and mushy peas arrived in separate cartons. Both sauces were good, the peas being quite thick and filling, the curry having bags of taste but being on the runny side.

We dined to a soundtrack of loud Grime music or some such modern popular music being piped into the restaurant. It seemed out of place as the eyes of 1940s film stars overlooked our deep fried nosh.
