Queens Fish Bar, Winshill, East Staffordshire

The first thing that intrigued us about Queens Fish Bar was discovering it used to be a pub. This was many years ago and we're sure lots of portions of chips have been served since pints ceased pouring on this spot.

We arrived one Saturday lunchtime to the meowing of a cat in the street, that was no doubt expecting a few morsels of fried fish.

We went for the meal deal of small fish, chips and a side. One of us chose mushy peas and t'other curry sauce.

As we waited for the fish to be cooked we noticed a poster for their gluten free nights. There was a smaller separate cabinet that we assumed was for the gluten free food.

Service was excellent, salt and vinegar was added before the sauce and fish.

We stood outside (the cat gave up on us) and agreed this food was lovely.
Medium cut chips with bags of flavour. A very tasty crisp and light batter on the haddock (skin on). The white flakes of fish tasted very fresh.

The mushy peas were un-dyed and delicious, the curry sauce was smooth, peppery and had a flavour that was more like Chinese style curry. A flavour we're very fond of. The meowing cat had missed a treat.
