The Model Fish Bar, Stamford

This chippy stands in the town centre on Broad Street, next to the market.

We visited one Friday lunchtime for a sit down meal. The place was very busy and we waited a short while until a table became available.

We ordered large cod, regular chips and mushy peas. We thought we'd have to wait a few minutes whilst this was cooked but it was brought to the table within a couple of minutes. It was fish from the heated display. Still, we were optimistic as the place was very busy so we thought this fish would have been cooked within the last ten minutes.
It looked good. Well presented with a wedge of lemon.

The chips were medium cut and crisp outside and fluffy inside. The batter was also crisp.

The fish was beginning to become a little chewy. It was quite dry and becoming a little more like the texture of chicken than fish. The mushy peas were OK but needed a splash of vinegar and some salt.
