Young's Fish and Chips by Petrou Brothers, Cambridge

This chippy has plenty of tables for eating in, which the Chip Fiends decided to do on this visit.

We ordered regular cod, haddock, chips, mushy peas and curry sauce.

The walls and floor are covered in a large design that looks like Brighton beach. They just need to pipe the sound of waves and seagulls to make it feel like the diners are at the seaside.

The food arrived with the fish freshly cooked and piping hot.

The batter was very crisp and light on both fish. The fish itself very white and sweet.
The curry sauce was the delicious variety that tastes similar to Chinese curry sauce. Very nice. The peas were excellent also.

The chips left us feeling a bit unsatisfied. They were crisp enough but lacked flavour. They looked like frozen "Beefeater" style chips, rather than hand cut ones.

  1. Hi being an ex fryer and seller of frozen chips you could be right although I am not 100% sure but the rest of it looks ok. Keep up the great work. Best regards Barry.
