Riverside Fish and Chips, Hillsborough, Sheffield

We spotted this chippy as we once passed on a tram. We noted how popular it was, with lots of customers, so decided we had to visit.

Riverside is situated next to the River Loxley and opposite Hillsborough tram stop. On this visit the shop was busy again. There was a fast moving queue and several customers were sitting on seats by the windows eating their lunch.

A sign for the fish and chip special at £3.30 caught our eyes. Fish, chips and mushy peas was ordered. The mountain of scraps (batter bits) in the heated display probably demonstrated how light the batter was going to be.

We found a spot outside to eat this excellent looking nosh along with several others that were doing the same. It was like being at the seaside; all of us fish and chip fans eating al fresco!

The mini fish (skinless cod) was excellent with succulent thick flakes. The batter was very light and crisp.

The chips were medium cut, as chips tend to be in this city. They were very good. The mushy peas were super, very tasty and made a good mix with the peas. Riverside is definitely worth a visit.
