The Chip Fiends had visited this chippy many years ago, so decided to revisit. We remembered how great and popular it was when we came before.
It seemed a little different this time.
There are hand written notices about the specials on offer that are quite ugly and cumbersome to read.
We noticed some fish already cooked in the display. These were large fish and we wanted mini, so ours was cooked to order.
We're not particularly good at maths but the mini fish, chips and side are £4.40. Mini haddock is £2.60. However, if you order mini cod this is £3.00, so we're not sure how our meals came to £5.60 each.
No doubt this wasn't the "special" as the portion was huge.
The chips were cut thin, which is unusual for chips in this area. We've not seen chips this thin in Leicester before. The mushy peas were very nice and tasted great mixed in with the peas, salt and vinegar.
The cod was covered in a very thick spongy batter that we did not eat. The cod was portioned very thick and was enjoyable once the batter was removed.
