Cod's Corner, Uttoxeter

For a small town, Uttoxeter has quite a few chippies. Today we thought we'd try Cod's Corner at the top of the High Street; established as a family business since 1978 according to their website.

There's a restaurant here but we decided to eat al fresco on a bench. Small haddock and chips was ordered.

The haddock was already cooked and on display. Salt and vinegar was splashed and sprinkled by the staff to the generous portion of chips, then the fish placed on top and more salt and vinegar added.

The batter had rather spoilt this fillet of fish; it was rather spongy and chewy, so was discarded.

The chips were excellent; golden, steaming hot and chunky.
