George's, Loughborough

We're familiar with George's chain of chip shops and were aware the Loughborough shop had been open for some time.

The shop is a short stroll from the town centre and has a small seated area and some bar stools along one wall. On our visit the shop was quite busy with customers eating in but we managed to grab a table.

The service was prompt and polite. The Chip Fiends ordered small fish with chips and mushy peas.

The food was scooped into one of the George's branded boxes, which also has a Trip Advisor logo printed on, encouraging customers to post online reviews. The mushy peas are poured into a carton rather than onto the chips, allowing eaters to use them as a dip if preferred.

The mini fish wasn't cooked to order, so was a bit chewy from standing in the heated display. We found the chips to be a little on the chewy side also.

The mushy peas were very runny and quite sweet. We found them more to our liking with a dash of vinegar added.

Something noticeable on this visit was the loud music being piped over the diners. It wasn't quite at night club levels but could have done with being cranked down a touch.
