Edward Street Fish Bar, Burton Upon Trent

Edward Street Fish Bar have been frying fish and chips in Burton since 1949. The chip shop is housed in an area of Victorian terraces just a short walk away from Burton's railway station.

This is a great chippy. Clean and modern on the inside, there is a huge fish bowl near the counter to interest you as you wait for fish to be fried.

The Chip Fiends had a lunchtime order of mini fish and chips costing just £3. If you have a sauce in the same tray it costs just an extra 40p. We had mushy peas to share in a separate pot for 80p.

The chips were excellent. Made with new potatoes, they weren't soft like new potato chips often are, but had the familiar sweet taste. The mini cod was very tasty but marred by the batter which was undercooked on the inside.

The mushy peas were perfect. Whole peas swimming in a tasty sauce. These would've been delicious eaten alone with a dollop of mint sauce!
