This chippy, on Bishopthorpe Road, is one of a small chain in Yorkshire. If the others are anything like this shop, then a very fine chain it must be.
The Chip Fiends arrived one Saturday lunchtime soon after the shop had opened. There were a few haddock already fried in anticipation of a busy afternoon. One customer requested cod, which was cooked to order.
Service was prompt and we were asked if we also wanted scraps at no extra charge.

The skinless haddock portion was very very good; delicious white flakes that tasted very fresh. The light batter was crisp and had a great texture to it.

The chips were cut medium thick and were a little on the greasy side. This was particularly noticeable as no chip fork was provided in the shop so we had to eat with our fingers.
