No doubt about it, this is a wonderful chippy. The Chip Fiends fell in love with the place as soon as they saw it. It reminded us of a couple of old chippies we knew in NW Leicestershire a few years back that were tiny buildings on village streets.





This chippy can be found on a residential street in Dronfield. It's worth hunting down. The place was very popular on this Friday lunchtime visit.
Lots of customers were ordering the all day special of fish, chips and a side in a box. You can order this with a small fish or a large fish. Both were very good value. The battered sausages and home made fish cakes were also very popular.










We noticed that most of the customers requested haddock. The haddock must be very good here as they sold out! We had cod. A very fine piece of cod it was too; portioned skinless and very thick. Very fresh and came apart in firm flakes. Just how it should be. The batter was a bit thick for our personal taste. We noticed a customer requesting their fish to be "lightly battered" so maybe they knew the batter usually comes thick here.




The chips were exceptional. Cut thick and crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Very tasty.

The mushy peas were good also. A bit on the green side but nice.

A lovely chippy.

    This was my nans chippy Nelly and her chips wer the best. Loved my times ther just brings bk so many memories

    Gone way down hill the 3 staff iv delt with are on the rude side more like its bad thing im there as a customer, has a card accepted sign but cards are not accepted meaning I had to leave and get cash, the food is exspsive for cod but the cod is slime and not great batter just doesn't stick to the not so white fish that is mushy and the chips not the best so all in all once the best place to go specially for a nice smile and service and best fish but sadly that is no more, oh yeh and the opening time displayed here on Google are wrong

    Staff are very friendly great chips, great fishcakes, fish and peas think the last owner is still in charge of website from what I can gather nice to see it back in locals hands
