High Street Chippy, Macclesfield

The cod was from the Barents Sea. The potatoes were Sagitta from Lincolnshire. The Chip Fiends knew this because there was a chalk board on the counter displaying this information.

The shop was busy with customers, some of them getting loyalty cards stamped. It's definitely the kind of chippy that you would want to return to.

The fish (cod) is cooked to order here. It was one of the best portions of fish we'd ever eaten; fresh, skinless, flaky, firm and sweet and cooked in a very very light crispy batter. Just how we like it.
The chips were medium cut. We prefer them a bit thicker but they were very tasty.
This shop is famous for its beef or "rag" puddings. This is similar to a steak and kidney pudding but doesn't contain kidney.

The service was swift and efficient.

The meal cost less than a fiver.

You'll find this chippy in a row of terraced houses on High Street, Macclesfield.
