Mushy Pea Bake or pea fritter to some.
Yep, we spotted these in a supermarket on special offer for 75p a pack of four. We thought we'd have to try them.
They were in a freezer next to the frozen peas. Most of the packaging is transparent so we could see they looked very much like pea fritters from a fish and chip shop.
The cooking instructions state bake, deep fry, microwave, grill or barbeque (sic). We baked them.
Once they were on the plate with some chips we stuck a fork in and hot mushy peas oozed out. The breadcrumb is not too thick to distract from the flavour of the peas. The mushy peas were very good; a much better flavour than that of tinned mushy peas.
Worth looking out for in your supermarket if you can't get hold of pea fritters from your local chippy.
