Ocean Blue, Leicester

We'd been to Ocean Blue before a few years ago when the chippy was quite new. It was time for a return visit to see if it was as good as we remembered.

We heard that despite the sign on the door stating the shop opens at 11am most days, it's often closed at lunchtime during the week. Friday lunchtime it was open and the Chip Fiends knew exactly what they wanted.

Ocean Blue serve traditional chippy fare alongside some excellent looking Greek gyros and souvlaki. Their onion rings are almost as big as ring donuts.
The fish chips and mushy peas meal deal of £4.40 was ordered.
You really can't go wrong ordering this yourself here, it's a great meal for the money. We decided to eat in at the table window and admired the Pukka Pies clock on the wall as the food was cooked.

The portion of cod was slightly bigger than your usual "mini" fillet; skinless and cooked to order in a very tasty crisp batter. Very fresh and flaky. The generously ladled mushy peas were very smooth and full of flavour.

The chips here are medium thick, crisp on the outside and fluffy on the inside.

A very satisfying lunch.
