This chippy is open all day, seven days a week. I don't think we have been to another chippy that can boast this.
The Dug Out Fish Bar is located on the busy Watling Street, a few miles out of Tamworth; so it's a chip shop pull-over for hungry travellers. There is cafe style seating towards the rear of the premises.
Service was prompt and a mountain of chips was topped with battered cod.
The batter was a tad thick and soggy but the fish inside was a very good fillet. Thick, firm and flakey. Cooked with the skin off.
The chips were cut wide and flat. Very tasty. The portion was so generous it could have been shared between two people. Defeated, this Chip Fiend couldn't finish them all.
