This is a fantastic looking chippy. A flat roofed little place on the corner of Appleton Gate and Cliff Nook Lane, Newark.
Service was prompt when we visited so we didn't get much of a chance to look at all the items on the menu. We noticed very large battered burgers and a spring roll amongst the usual fish cakes and pies in the heated display.

Fish was coming out of the fryer for hungry customers. We chose haddock and chips.

The medium cut chips were crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside and were delicious. There were rather a lot of crunchy shards of potato that this Chip Fiend doesn't much care for but a fellow Fiend enjoys.

The batter was golden and very crisp, there was a satisfyingly loud crunch with each bite.
The fish fillet (skin on) was portioned a little thin which made it quite greasy.

We looked for a spot to finish our lunch and found a bench near the castle ruins.
