Cheese and chips is not something that appears at the top of the chip fiends' list of favourite treats.
Like the takeaway kebab, it's image is marred by an association with after-club food. It's also something we simply don't crave to eat. We like cheese and we love chips, but not together.
However, we recently came across this 'chip shop curry sauce' flavour cheese at a food fayre. The flavour is astonishingly accurate: revealing a mild spiciness combined with a slightly sickly sweetness.
A quick search online found a company called Windyridge that produces cheese of this flavour. (We don't know for certain that it was their cheese that we purchased).
The Windyridge website recommends that you:
"Grate some over your chips for the best cheesy chips you'll ever taste!"
So we had a go:
We also found that the cheese was fine with crackers!
