Carlo's Catch was a busy local chippy in Spondon, Derbyshire that served great food at good value for money. We were also rather taken by its name.
Since the Chip Fiends last visited, however, the shop has changed hands and, at the time of writing, is currently being refurbished by Zan Fish.
We thought we would post our memories of Carlo's Catch for posterity - especially focussing on the mini fish, chips and peas special that we once purchased. At only £3 for the lot, this had to be one of the best meal deals in Derbyshire!
The chips at Carlo's were delicious. Pale, chunky and very fresh tasting. The mini fish was nice and flaky with a soft golden batter. The peas were piping hot and very good indeed.
There was plenty of food for the £3, and very satisfying it was too. The Chip Fiends are fond of Zan Fish (they have several restaurants and takeaways in Derbyshire) so we will be sure to try this chippy out once the renovations have finished in summer 2015.
