Melbourne Fish and Chip Shop

The picturesque Derbyshire village of Melbourne is a perfect stopping off point if you're wanting a not-too-vigorous walk in the countryside. After having a walk near Melbourne Hall you could refresh yourself in one of the village's cafés or tea rooms. Alternatively you could treat yourself to a very fine portion of fish and chips from Melbourne Fish and Chip Shop.

The premises are easy to find, on the main road facing a landmark market cross.

The 'Melbourne' has all the good signs of a quality local chippy. The staff wear Melbourne Fish and Chip Shop uniforms and the chippy was doing a roaring trade on the Saturday lunch time we visited. The menu includes several special deals like a 'small fish and chips' portion at £3.85, which, despite being offered as a value portion was suitably generous - more than enough for these chip fiends.

The chips were chunky and tasty, the haddock, fresh and hot, with a light batter.

The 'Melbourne' can do gluten free frying all day, every day as they use a separate fryer for these meals - a very considerate offer.

Go and pay them a visit, either after a morning walk... or eat first then walk the meal off. You're guaranteed to have a memorable trip, whatever you decide.
