Visited December 2013
All the Chip Fiends gathered together for a chippy meal at a The Castle, Nottingham - not actually a chip shop, but a pub specialising in a fish and chip / seafood menu.
The idea is good: food is served as if you are ordering a takeaway. For example, the fish and chips comes boxed, and side orders such as pickled eggs and mushy peas come served in a polystyrene cup.
Unfortunately on the evening we visited, the food did not live up to this tongue-in-cheek homage to the British chippy. The chips aren't fresh: they are bought-in, ready cut. The fish was gelatinous and indigestible. One of them was even served upside-down (skin up).
This could be really good if the quality of the food had the same attention to detail as the presentation.
