Friar Tuck's, Whittlesey

Visited on 11/01/2014

The Whittlesey Straw Bear Festival takes place every January in the Fens.
A 'must' of every visit is to eat lunch at one of the local chip shops that do a roaring trade over this weekend. For the Chip Diaries we Chip Fiends split into two parties: one half visited Chippy Sue's, the other, Friar Tuck's (in a pedestrian walkway just off High Causeway).

The service was swift and efficient, with a fast-moving queue. Friar Tuck's now offer complimentary sachets of tartare sauce with a fish n Chip takeaway. One of the popular bonuses of this place is that it provides 'scraps' (batter bits) if you request them, and there is always a huge pile of these on display during Straw Bear weekend. The fish and chips didn't disappoint on this fresh, January afternoon. Absolutely delicious!
