January - February 2025 Round-Up

The Chip Diaries have been on a few trips during the Winter months. A return to The Fish House, Ely which we previously visited in 2015 and 2016 warmed one of us on a crisp, January day. We also enjoyed some battered chips again in the Black Country. There will be YouTube videos to follow from these adventures, so keep a look out for those. youtube.com/@fishandchipdiaries

We’ve posted some videos from previous chippies that we’ve blogged such as Kerry’s in Ilkeston, Derbyshire, Trawler’s in Loughborough, and Fryday’s in Grimsby, but also some new visits. See below for the tiddler and chips we sampled at Linford's in Market Deeping.

One of the Chip Fiends was very impressed by Hull. This city had been on our list of places to visit for a long time and we intend to visit again as soon as we can. You can watch our visit to Cave Street Fisheries here:

If you’re ever in Macclesfield, do visit Pete’s. We went at the start of the year. The food was great and the service was very friendly. There are still a couple of chippies in Macc we haven’t been to yet, so will go back some time to try those out. It's definitely a town that isn't short on great fish and chip shops.

When one of the Chip Fiends was out in Lichfield recently, they bumped into YouTuber Old Food Guy who gave us a shout out on one of his YouTube videos. Then off we went for lunch at the Sefton where we got a free potato scollop!

If you want to get that lovely summer feeling in February then have a look at the bike ride one of the Chip Fiends took to The Big Fryer in Long Buckby, Northants. One of our subscribers commented that it was our best video yet :)

Keep on enjoying your chippy teas!
