The frier likes hats. He was wearing some form of a top hat and there were several hats hanging on the wall in the shop. He told me that customers gift them to him.

There was a cod in the hot box but he was happy to fry a piece of haddock for me as we chatted away about headwear.

After a few minutes this was served in a box with a slice of lemon and some complimentary tartare sauce.

I sat outside at the small table.

The batter was flat but it was very light and crisp. The chips were medium cut and fairly standard. Nice but not amazing.

The curry sauce was Chinese style but not particularly mixed thick, suitable more for pouring rather than dipping.

The portion size was very generous and this Chip Fiend left feeling rather full and satisfied.
