Lucy's Mushy Peas, Norwich Market

The Chip Fiends were very fond of the Mushy Pea Stall at Norwich Market. We last posted a blog about this establishment in January 2022. Only a few weeks later the owners retired and Lucy's Chips announced that they were going to take over the business.

I found myself once again in Norwich Market at lunchtime. What to eat?... Why yes, mushy peas. They are a perfect snack. Cheap, wholesome, and filling! I ordered a small bowl for £1.60.

The portion was generous and delicious.

There were two noticeable differences in the way the food was served this time. The mushy peas weren't so runny. They were moist, but had more body to them, and stood in a mound. I actually preferred them runny as they used to be.

The mint sauce came in a squeezy bottle. This was an innovative and good idea. Much easier to pour over the peas than using a ladle. It meant there was a good mix of mint in the sauce. (When ladling you tend to get more vinegar and have to give the sauce a good ol' stir).

As the stall is next to Lucy's Chips, you can combine the two. Pop by if you are in Norwich!
