This one has been on our radar since we went to the Fish Inn at Atherstone and overheard someone had mistakenly placed their order at this shop instead of the one there.
I think this was the last shop in our list of trips to Ashby chippies. It’s a no frills chip shop on Market Street. A couple of us went one Saturday lunchtime and ordered mini fish specials. One with curry and one with peas. One was in the hot box, the other was cooked fresh.
To be honest, one couldn’t tell which was fresh and which had been standing. Neither were particularly enjoyable. The fish fell apart in little bits and had a soggy batter. The mushy peas were a radioactive green, curry sauce standard. Neither of us could finish the meals. We placed them in the care of the nearest bin.
