Gold Street Fish Bar, Wellingborough, Northamptonshire

The haddock was almost a gonner. One of the Chip Fiends was attempting to photograph his chippy tea, balancing the tray on his arm, when the fish seemingly sprang to life.

“Whoah!”

Never try and photograph a tray of fish, chips and peas when someone else can do it for you.

A spacious and spotlessly clean shop.
Most of the food here is cooked to order, so there was very little in the hot box.

One of us had cod, chips and curry sauce, t’other had haddock, chips and mushy peas.

We’d definitely come at the right time cos the chips were a fresh batch. They were crisp outside and fluffy inside and piping hot. The batter was crisp and both the cod and haddock had firm and succulent flakes.

The curry sauce was a delicious chinese style but was a bit thin in consistency. It would have been improved if it were thick. The peas were delicious, the photographs speak for themselves.
